韓國YouTubers年收入億(韓)元戶48%未滿30歲
48% of South Korean YouTubers earning over 100 million won annually are under 30 years old

韓國國家稅務局(NTS, National Tax Service)近期披露了2022年"一人內容創作者"在收入與年齡的分解數據,由於這類的數據不多,剛好可做為相關行業參考。


國稅局所指的"一人內容創作者",就是在YouTube頻道和各種網路平台上的主播或內容創作者中,以個人或員工數1人的企業申報稅務者。海擇資本將相關數據解讀如下,為了便於理解,我們將原分類級距中的韓元換算成等值美元:

1. 2022年,共有39,366名一人內容創作者申報收入。其中,年收入超過1億韓元(73,270美元)的高收入創作者有2,781人,約佔總數的7%。

2. 其中有80%(31,481名)的創作者,年收入低於2,500萬韓元(18,320美元),這可以理解為在韓國屬於入不敷出的年收入。

3. 假設申報收入的近4萬人處於較高收入群體,我們假設行業中較低收入群體的人數會顯著更多。例如,如果4萬人占行業總人數的20%,那麼,"一人內容創作者"行業的總人數可能在20萬人左右。這表示這個行業要能穩健盈利仍屬不易,即便考慮20萬人中可能80%是以副業心態看待。

4. 依年齡組別劃分,未滿30歲的高收入者數量最多,共1,324人;其次是30多歲的創作者有1,071人、40多歲的創作者有273人、50歲以上的創作者有113人。

5. 有1,324名未滿30歲的一人內容創作者的收入超過1億韓元,該數據比2020年增加了約2.5倍。對未滿30歲的工作者來說,年收入超過73,000美元其實很有吸引力,估計未來還會上升。

6. 值得注意的是,一般認為該行業的高收入者都是年輕人,但其實50歲以上的高收入者也有113人,在高收入者中佔比4%,或許這也是高齡者能以知識或專業發揮的行業。

7. 韓國總人口約5,200萬,就業人口約2,900萬,若有20萬人屬於一人內容創作者行業,規模接近總就業人口的1%,其實不小了。


此外,韓國國稅局也提到了,由於部分應納稅者會在直播間要求訂閱者直接向個人帳戶發送捐款,甚至是加密貨幣,這部分屬於"稅收盲點",會導致這些"一人內容創作者"的實際收入可能會高於國稅局所計算的收入。

The National Tax Service (NTS) of South Korea recently disclosed the income and age breakdown data for "one-person content creators" in 2022, which is valuable for industry reference due to its rarity.


"One-person content creators," as defined by the NTS, are broadcasters or content creators on YouTube channels and various online platforms who operate as individuals or single-employee businesses for tax purposes. Haize Capital interprets the data as follows, with the original Korean Won amounts converted into equivalent US dollars for clarity:

1. In 2022, a total of 39,366 one-person content creators reported their income. Among them, 2,781, or about 7%, reported an annual income exceeding 100 million Korean Won ($73,270).

2. 80% (31,481) of the creators earned less than 25 million Korean Won ($18,320) per year, which is considered below the living wage in South Korea.

3. Assuming the nearly 40,000 income-reporting individuals are among the higher earners in the industry, it is plausible that there are significantly more in the lower income group. For instance, if these 40,000 represent about 20% of the total industry population, then the total number of one-person content creators could be around 200,000. This suggests that achieving stable profitability in this industry is challenging, even considering that 80% might treat it as a secondary source of income.

4. By age group, the biggest proportion of high earners is under 30, totaling 1,324 individuals. This is followed by creators in their 30s with 1,071 individuals, those in their 40s with 273, and those over 50 with 113.

5. Among those under 30, 1,324 one-person content creators earned over 100 million Korean Won, an increase of approximately 2.5 times from 2020. An annual income over $73,000 is quite attractive for workers under 30, and this figure is expected to rise further.

6. While it is commonly assumed that the high earners in this industry are predominantly young, there are also 113 individuals over the age of 50 making a substantial income, accounting for 4% of the high earners. This indicates that the industry allows older individuals to leverage their knowledge or expertise effectively.

7. With a total population of around 52 million and an employed population of about 29 million in South Korea, if there are 200,000 individuals in the one-person content creator industry, they represent nearly 1% of the total employed population, which is significant. 


Additionally, the National Tax Service of South Korea mentioned that some taxpayers request subscribers to send donations directly to personal accounts or even in cryptocurrencies during live streams. This is considered a "tax blind spot" and may result in the actual income of these "one-person content creators" being higher than what is recorded by the tax authority.
