Recovery of Taiwan's Inbound Tourism in the Post-Pandemic Era

海擇短評 Haize Comment：

自2022年末，亞洲各國逐步開放國境，步入後疫情時期以來，各國復甦程度不一。本次海擇觀點就台灣2024年1月至5月的入境數據，給到相關業者布局參考。海擇資本歸結部分重點如下：

1. 2024年1月至5月，外國旅客入境台灣總人次為324萬人次，較2019年復甦64.3%。

2. 共有七國入境台灣總人次超過2019年同期，前三大分別為：印尼(111.0%)、德國(108.0%)與墨西哥(105.9%)。

3. 從入境台灣的人次看，總量前三大的客源國分別為：日本(53.3萬人次)、韓國(45.9萬人次)與美國(25.3萬人次)，佔整體的38.4%。

4. 目前觀光署報表已刨除中國大陸赴台旅遊的人數，若考慮本要素，實際的復甦率會更低；可參考值為，2019年陸客赴台為271.4萬人次，2023年則為22.6萬人次。

Since the end of 2022, as Asia gradually reopened its borders in the post-pandemic era, the recovery of tourism has varied by country. Haize Capital has piled Taiwan's inbound travel data from January to May 2024, for industry to consider. Key points summarized by Haize Capital are as follows:

1. From January to May 2024, Taiwan welcomed 3.24 million foreign visitors, recovering 64.3% from 2019 levels.

2. Inbound tourists from seven source countries surpassed their 2019 figures, with the top three being Indonesia (111.0%), Germany (108.0%), and Mexico (105.9%).

3. The top three source countries by visitor numbers were Japan (533,000), South Korea (459,000), and the USA (253,000), accounting for 38.4% of total arrivals. 

4. Current tourism reports exclude the number of mainland Chinese tourists. If included, the actual recovery rate would be lower; for reference, mainland Chinese tourists to Taiwan numbered 2.714 million in 2019 and 226,000 in 2023.
