韓國濟州島8月外國遊客入境旅遊人次創歷史次高

雖然前往韓國本土的外國遊客人次，與2019年相比還有一段距離，但單從韓國海外的濟州島來看，8月的外國遊客人數已突破20萬人次，創下歷史次高。海擇資本認為，背後有幾點可以觀察：

1. 根據濟州島旅遊協會統計，8月份赴濟州島的外國遊客為20.2萬人次，季增5.6%，年增138%。這是自2017年2月以來，按月計算外國遊客數量首次超過20萬人次，也是歷史次高。

2. 今(2024)年赴濟州島的外國遊客大多為中國遊客。根據濟州觀光公社統計，截至7月，累計前往濟州島的外國遊客人數為110.4萬人次，其中中國遊客佔比約75%，達82.8萬人次，較去年同期增長538%。若與韓國全境相比，截至7月，累計中國赴韓遊客較去年同期增長為247%。

3. 境外旅客赴濟州島的主要交通工具為飛機與郵輪。8月份濟州島直飛國際航線有15條至中國、2條至日本，全月濟州機場的航班數量為每週195班次；而2024全年將有298航次的國際郵輪停靠濟州島，約為國際郵輪營運次數最多的2016年(507航次)的59%，創下歷史次高的。不過，由於現在的郵輪載客人次遠高於2016年，從人次看可能會創下歷史新高。

4. 中國赴韓遊客曾因韓國部署薩德(THAAD, Terminal High Altitude Area Defense)導彈系統，從2017年起，中國赴韓遊客數量急劇下降。目前看來，相關局勢已開始緩解，兩國的旅遊交流也快速回暖。

Although the number of foreign tourists visiting mainland Korea is still far from 2019 levels, Jeju Island alone saw over 200,000 foreign visitors in August, marking the second-highest in history. HaiZe Capital believes there are several key points to observe:

According to the Jeju Island Tourism Association, the number of foreign tourists visiting Jeju Island in August reached 202,000, a 5.6% increase quarter-over-quarter and a 138% year-over-year growth. This is the first time since February 2017 that the monthly number of foreign tourists surpassed 200,000, and it’s the second-highest on record.

Most of the foreign tourists visiting Jeju Island this year (2024) are from China. According to the Jeju Tourism Organization, as of July, the cumulative number of foreign tourists to Jeju Island reached 1.104 million, with Chinese tourists accounting for about 75%, or 828,000 visitors, representing a 538% increase compared to the same period last year. In comparison, the cumulative number of Chinese tourists to Korea as a whole increased by 247% as of July compared to the same period last year.

The main modes of transportation for foreign visitors to Jeju Island are airplanes and cruise ships. In August, there were 15 direct international air routes from Jeju to China and 2 to Japan, with Jeju Airport hosting 195 weekly flights throughout the month. Additionally, 298 international cruise ships are expected to stop at Jeju Island in 2024, about 59% of the record high of 507 cruise ship stops in 2016, making this the second-highest in history. However, as current cruise ships carry more passengers than in 2016, the number of passengers may reach a new record.

Chinese tourist numbers to South Korea dropped sharply from 2017 due to the deployment of the THAAD (Terminal High Altitude Area Defense) missile system in Korea. However, it appears that tensions have begun to ease, and tourism exchanges between the two countries are rapidly warming up.
