此前我們在海擇觀點談過美國的外賣配送陷入了高度內卷,風暴即將來臨。這次可以看看韓國市場。


基於智慧型手機的高普及率和城市人口稠密,韓國是世界第四大食品配送市場。根據Mobile Index數據,韓國外賣配送市場No.1由Woowa Brothers旗下的品牌Baemin勝出,以1月底市場佔有率來看,Baemin占69%,Yogiyo與Coupang Eats則各占20%和11%。



Woowa Brothers擁有接近70%的過半市佔率,是否規模盈利了?根據財報,其2021年交易額為2.08兆韓元(16.2億美元),而2020年為1.03兆韓元,增速高達102%;但運營上的虧損也迅速擴大,運營虧損從112.3億韓元(2020)擴大到756.9億韓元(2021),YoY增速高達575%,淨虧損也從485.9億韓元(2020)進一步加深至1414.6億韓元(2021),換算成美金為1.15億。我們理解虧損擴大主要還是在生鮮雜貨配送新業務上做了過大的投入,同時速送服務的配套成本過高所造成的。


2022年投資人的忍受力大概不會像2021年那麼高,很有可能美國外賣配送行業的風暴,也會在韓國部分複製。

Haize Capital 관점에 앞서 보도한 기사에서는 미국 배달업계가 불합리한 내부경쟁과 내모에 빠져 폭풍우가 몰아치고 있다고 언급했다. 이번에는 한국 시장을 살펴본다.


한국이 높은 스마트폰 보급률과 도시인구 밀집도에 힘입어 세계 4위의 식품배달시장으로 떠올랐다. Mobile Index에 따르면 한국 배달시장 1위는 Woowa Brothers의 배민(Baemin)이다. 1월 말 현재 배민(Baemin)의 시장점유율은 69%, 요기요(Yogiyo)와 쿠팡 이츠(Coupang Eats)가 각각 20%, 11%다.


Woowa Brothers는 시장의 70%를 점유하고 있다. 이 회사의 재무제표에는 2020년에 거래액은 1조 300억원, 2021년에 거래액은 2조 800억원 (16억 2000만달러)으로 102% 성장했다. 하지만 영업손실은 112억 3000만원 (2020년)에서 756억 9000만원 (2021년)으로 전년 동기 대비 575% 증가했다. 순손실도 2020년 485억 9000만원에서 2021년 1414억 6000만원 (1억 1500만달러)으로 확대됐다. 우리는 신선(제품)잡화배송이라는 신규 사업에 대한 과도한 투자와 신속 배송과 관련된 과도한 비용이 적자 확대의 원인이라고 본다.


2022년은 투자자들의 인내심이 2021년만큼 크지 않을 것이다. 이에 따라 한국 시장도 미국 배달업체처럼 어느 정도 타격을 받을 가능성이 크다.

スマートフォンの高い普及率と都市の人口密集のおかげで、韓国は世界第4位のフードデリバリー市場となった。Mobile Indexによると、韓国のデリバリー市場のトップ1は、Woowa Brothers傘下のBaeminだ。1月末時点でBaeminの市場シェアは69%、YogiyoとCoupang Eatsがそれぞれ20%と11%だった。


Woowa Brothersは市場の約70%のシェアを保有しているが、黒字化しているのだろうか。同社の財務報告書によると、2020年は1兆300億ウォンだったが、2021年の取引額は2兆800億ウォン(16億2000万ドル)となり、102%の伸び率となった。しかし、営業損失は112億3000万ウォン(2020年)から756億9000万ウォン(2021年)へと、前年比575%も拡大した。純損失も2020年の485億9000万ウォンから2021年には1414億6000万ウォン(1億1500万ドル相当)に拡大した。赤字が拡大したのは、生鮮雑貨配送の新規事業への投資が大きすぎたことと、スピード配送サービス関連コストが高すぎたためだと考えている。 


2022年の投資家の忍耐力は、2021年ほどではないだろうから、米国のフードデリバリー業界が受けたように、韓国市場もある程度の衝撃を受ける可能性が高い。

Previously, Haize Comment talked about the U.S. food delivery market, which has fallen into rat race, and the storm is coming. This time we take a look at the Korean market.

South Korea is the fourth largest food delivery market in the world based on high smartphone penetration and dense urban populations. With a market share of 69% at the end of January, Baemin, a brand owned by Woowa Brothers, tops the food delivery market in South Korea, while Yogiyo and Coupang Eats accounted for 20% and 11% respectively, according to Mobile Index.

Woowa Brothers grabs nearly 70% of the market share, is it profitable? According to its financial report, in 2021 it has 2.08 trillion won ($1.62 billion) in sales , which has increased by 102% from 1.03 trillion won in 2020; however, operating losses have also expanded rapidly, which has surged by 575% to 75.69 billion won (2021) from 11.23 billion won (2020), and the net loss has soared to 141.46 billion won (2021, equivalents to USD 115 million) from 48.59 billion won (2020). 

We think that the expansion of losses was mainly caused by the excessive investment in the new business of fresh grocery delivery and the high cost of express delivery services.

2022, investors may not have much tolerance as in 2021. It is very likely that South Korea will partially replicate the storm in the U.S. food delivery industry.
