Recovery overview of South Korea's inbound, outbound tourism in November 2022

海擇短評 Haize Comment：

韓國旅遊發展局近期公告了2022年11月的韓國出入境統計數據，海擇資本將公告數據與其他來源的歷史數據比對，梳理了些我們認為有意義的數據如下：

1. 2022年11月，韓國出入境總人數超過150萬人次(150.1萬)，YoY增速達520%，與2019年同期相比，恢復了42%。

2. 其中，出境旅遊人數突破100萬人次(104.1萬)，YoY增長達604%，與2019年同期相比，恢復了50%。

3. 各出境目的地恢復並不同步，11月總出境旅遊人數為2019年的50%，但赴日旅遊的人數較2019年增加了54%，亦即有20%(20.5萬人次)的韓國人出境旅遊都選擇赴日。

4. 外國人入境也在恢復中，11月外國入境人數為46.0萬，YoY增長387%，與2019年同期相比，恢復了23%。其中香港入境人數YoY增長約123倍，與2019年同期相比，恢復了25%；台灣入境人數YoY增長約47倍，與2019年同期相比，恢復了18%。

The Korea Tourism Organization recently announced the entry and exit statistics of South Korea for November 2022. Haize Capital compared the announced data with historical data from other sources, and sorted out some data that we think are meaningful as follows:

1. In November 2022, the total number of people entering and leaving South Korea exceeded 1.5 million (1.501 million), increased by 520% YoY, an increase of 42% over the same period in 2019.

2. Among them, the number of outbound tourists exceeded 1 million (1.041 million), increased by 604% YoY, an increase of 50% over the same period in 2019.

3. The recovery of various outbound destinations is not synchronized. The total number of outbound tourists in November was 50% of 2019 level, but outbound tourists traveling to Japan increased by 54% compared with 2019, which means 20% (205,000 people) of Korean outbound tourists choose to go to Japan.

4. Inbound tourism is also recovering. The number of foreign arrivals in November was 460,000, increased by 387% YoY, recovering to 23% of the 2019 same period level. Among them, the inbound tourists from Hong Kong has increased by about 123 times YoY, recovering to 25% of the 2019 same period level; the inbound tourists from Taiwan has increased by about 47 times YoY, recovering to 18% of the 2019 same period level.

한국관광공사는 최근 2022년 11월 한국 출입국 통계를 발표했다. Haize Capital은 발표된 데이터를 다른 출처의 역사적 데이터와 비교하여 다음과 같이 우리가 의미 있다고 생각하는 데이터를 정리했다.

1. 2022년 11월 한국의 총 출입국자수는 150만명(150만1,000명)을 넘었고, 전년동월대비 520%, 2019년 동기 대비 42% 증가했다.

2. 그중 내국인 출국자수는 100만명(104만1,000명)을 돌파하여 전년동월대비 604% 성장하여 2019년 11월의 약 절반 수준이다.

3. 각 출국 목적지의 회복이 동기화되지 않았다. 11월 전체 내국인 출국자수는 2019년의 50%로 일본으로 출국하는 내국인은 2019년 11월보다 54% 증가했다. 즉 내국인 출국자수의 20%(20만5,000명)가 일본행을 선택했다.

4. 외국인 입국자수도 살아나고 있다. 11월 외국인 입국자수는 46만명으로 전년동월대비 387% 증가해 2019년 11월의 23%로 회복됐다. 그 중 홍콩 입국자수는 전년동월대비 약 123배 증가하여 2019년 11월 수준의 25%로 회복되었다. 대만의 입국자수는 전년동월대비 약 47배 성장하여 2019년 11월 수준의 18%로 회복되였다.
