After completing a debt financing of 80 million euros in February 2021, the experience/activity platform GetYourGuide recently announced the completion of a Series F equity financing of $85 million and a debt financing of $109 million. The equity financing was led by Blue Pool Capital, with KKR and Temasek participating. To date, GetYourGuide's total financing has exceeded $1 billion($1.077 billion).
Although the overall economic situation in Europe and the United States is not good, the value of the experience market has always been estimated to be substantial. Airbnb positioned the global experience value as a $1 trillion market in its prospectus, and GetYourGuide raised it by 50%, identifying it as a $1.5 trillion market. Regarding the use of financing, GetYourGuide's CEO, Johannes Reck, spoke about the application of generative AI. Besides launching a plug-in for ChatGPT like Expedia, GetYourGuide aims to offer personalized recommendations using generative AI, helping customers easily sift through the detailed information of more than 75,000 activities on the market. The ultimate goal is to use versions of ChatGPT4 or above to summarize key travel reviews and ratings using images and videos, enabling travelers to arrange their holiday activities in just a few minutes, rather than spending hours researching and reading guides.
