日本觀光廳近期公告"過夜旅行統計(宿泊旅行統計調査)"的5月份整體數據及4月份分解數據。統計數據顯示，從過夜人次的角度看，外國人訪日的復甦仍弱於日本本地客人的復甦；而雖然韓國訪日的絕對人數超過他國，但若從人均的角度看，韓國人每次赴日旅遊的過夜天數並不長，表示尚缺旅遊深度。海擇資本歸納三點現況如下：
1. 外國人訪日的復甦弱於日本本地：2023年5月日本住宿行業過夜遊客總數為5,012萬人次，僅比2019年同期略弱2.5%到 2019 年同月。其中，外國人過夜數為897萬人次，較2019年同期下降7.8%；而日本本地住客過夜數較2019年同月下降1.3%，為4,115萬人次。
2. 韓國人均過夜數偏弱：2023年4月赴日外國過夜數共952萬人次，按出發地劃分，過夜人次總量排名第五名依序為美國101.1萬人次、台灣94.1萬人次、韓國86.0萬人次、香港51.4萬人次、中國48.2萬人次。若將過夜人次總量除以出發地當月的入境旅客總數，美國、台灣、韓國、香港、中國的人均旅客過夜數分別為5.5間夜、3.2間夜、1.8間夜、3.4間夜、3.3間夜，可以理解韓國赴日的人數雖然多，但過夜數偏低，可能更偏向短期的周末遊。
3. 東南亞赴日大幅增長：若與2019年同期相比，已有不少出發地赴日人次呈大幅增長，其中最大的五處分別為：印尼(增長61.3%)、新加坡(增長37.6%)、美國(增長22.9%)、菲律賓(增長 22.2%)和加拿大(增長 16.5%)。

The Japan Tourism Agency recently announced the data for May overall and April breakdown of the "Overnight Travel Statistics (宿泊旅行統計調査)", which shows that, from the perspective of overnight stays, the recovery of inbound travel to Japan is still weaker than that of Japanese local travel. Although the absolute number of Korean visitors to Japan surpasses other source countries, in terms of per capita, the stay length of Korean visitors is not long, indicating a lack of in-depth travel. Haize Capital summarizes the current situation as follows:
1. Inbound travel recovery is weaker than Japanese domestic tours: In May 2023, the total number of overnight tourists in Japan was 50.12 million, only slightly weaker by 2.5% compared to the same period in 2019. Among them, the foreign visitors with overnight stay were 8.97 million, down 7.8% from the same period in 2019; whereas the number of local Japanese tourists with overnight stay decreased by 1.3% compared to the same month in 2019, at 41.15 million.
2. The average overnight stay by Koreans is relatively low: In April 2023, the total number of overnight stays by foreign tourists visiting Japan was 9.52 million. Broken down by the source countries, the top five in total volume were the United States with 1.011 million, Taiwan with 0.941 million, Korea with 0.86 million, Hong Kong with 0.514 million, and China with 0.482 million. If the total number of overnight stays is divided by the total number of inbound tourists from those source countries for that month, the average number of overnight stays for tourists from the United States, Taiwan, Korea, Hong Kong, and China were respectively 5.5 nights, 3.2 nights, 1.8 nights, 3.4 nights, and 3.3 nights. This indicates that while the number of Koreans visiting Japan is high, the number of overnight stays from Korean visitors is relatively low, suggesting a tendency for short weekend trips.
3. Significant growth in Southeast Asian visitors to Japan from: Compared to the same period in 2019, there has been a significant increase in the number of visitors to Japan from many source countries. The top five places with the largest increases are: Indonesia (up 61.3%), Singapore (up 37.6%), the United States (up 22.9%), the Philippines (up 22.2%), and Canada (up 16.5%).

3. 동남아시아의 방일 인수가 대폭 증가하다. 2019년 같은 기간에 비해 여러 객원국에서 온 방일 관광객수가 대폭 증가되였다. 상승률이 가장 큰 상위 5개국은 인도네시아(61.3% 상승), 싱가포르(37.6% 상승), 미국(22.9% 상승), 필리핀(22.2% 상승), 캐나다(16.5% 상승)였다.
