After Expedia, Booking.com, Priceline, and Trip.com announced their own generative AI travel itinerary tools, Tripadvisor, which prides itself as "the world's largest travel guidance platform," has also combined its data with OpenAI to launch its own version of a travel itinerary generation tool.
Currently, Tripadvisor's travel itinerary generation tool is still in the public beta stage and can only be used on the web and mobile network via U.S. IP addresses. According to Tripadvisor's current CEO, Matt Goldberg, this tool can create a daily itinerary tailored for users, based on their entered destination, travel dates, accompanying members, and interested types of activities. It accomplishes this by analyzing over a billion user reviews on Tripadvisor. The current public beta version provides recommendations for experiences, attractions, and dining, with updates to include accommodation suggestions to be added later.
Why does Haize Capital think that Tripadvisor's itinerary generation tool is particularly noteworthy? Among travel products in various fields, user demand for "Things to Do" at their destination is the most complex and requires the most guidance, and current generative AI is most likely to make errors in this area.
